Let’s face it. Anyone these days can call themselves a trainer and deliver a program to athletes. But let me tell you a secret - most athletes are being trained by under qualified people.

But what does under-qualified mean?

  1. NO CREDENTIALS

A surprising amount of athletes, parents, or coaches are investing their time, money and future in the hands of people who don’t have formal education in human physiology.

The strength and conditioning program tends to be done by a parent, an assistant coach, or a group fitness trainer who did a weekend personal training course. Would you let a plumber do a dental procedure on you? Or leave someone in charge of sales in your multi-million dollar company who’s only experience is that they’ve seen some Youtube videos and used to sell girl-guide cookies every summer when they were younger? My guess is probably not.

How you treat the physical condition of the body is how it will translate into future sport performance, injury occurance and athlete mental health - It’s not something to be messed with lightly.

Don’t get me wrong because believe me CREDENTIALS ARE NOT EVERYTHING.

2. GOOD CREDENTIALS, INEFFECTIVE COACHING

I’ve worked and travelled around the world and met hundreds of professionals with fancy letters beside their names. But when I saw them in action I was heavily disappointed with not only their application of scientific training, but also with their ineffective coaching strategies and leadership. Coaching is just as much an ART as it is science and these proverbial “wolves in sheeps clothing” are the hardest to filter out.

The people who fit in those categories above may be competent individuals with the best intentions, but competency is light years away from providing greatness and intentions pave the way to “you know where”

So believe me when I say this - Elite, gifted coaches, with formal education and proven track records are few and far between.

My training methods will include both traditional training methods and novel methods that you won’t get from other coaches. I am a student of sport and your program will be built with you and the demands of your sport in mind.

  2. Targeted Nutrition - Nutrition is the single biggest failure I have seen from athletes at all levels and in every country I’ve worked in. I will help you dial in your eating habits so that you can better fuel your workouts and competitions, recover your body, prevent injuries and be “agile” to adjust to different physical demands at different parts of your off-season and in-season.

  3. Confidence - The best athletes trust their body, mind, and process. Hiring me is like having a personal hype guy. You need to know that your coach will go to the ends of the earth to make sure you have the best chance to reach your goals. That way you feel like your investment is worth it because you know you are progressing in the right direction.

  4. Strive for Everyday Excellence - The best athletes in the world do the little things right everyday and believe me there are many little things you can be doing to push yourself towards crushing your goals. I try to coach everyone not only to be the best athlete possible, but also leave this process as a better overall person.

Athletes not only need someone who is educated and intelligent, but they need someone who gives them inspiration and confidence, someone who they trust that will go to the ends of the earth to makes sure they reach their goals, and someone who “walks the walk” with them, instead of talking the talk and not following through.
